SunTek® Dealer FAQ

How does SunTek® Evolve compare to Ceramic IR?

Both SunTek® Evolve and CeramicIR™ (CIR) are premium ceramic window tint products. Evolve is our highest performing tint, engineered to deliver extreme solar-blocking performance—rejecting up to 94% of infrared heat1 with a combination of glare reduction and over 99% UV protection2.

Can a ceramic coating be applied over SunTek® Reaction PPF?

Ceramic coatings may be applied over the surface of our paint protection film product. But it is not necessary with SunTek® Reaction. Reaction’s advanced two-in-one construction integrates the super hydrophobicity3 of a ceramic coating with premium, self-healing PPF utilizing Eastman’s OEM-trusted Tetrashield™ technology. So, while coatings and waxes may be applied to our PPF, you may find it’s not needed with Reaction’s incredible slick surface.

What is the difference between SunTek® PPF Ultra and Reaction? What makes SunTek Reaction special?

PPF Ultra and Reaction PPF help guard against surface scratches and road hazards, while both products also help preserve a vehicle’s long-lasting appearance with a self-healing top coat. That’s where the similarity ends. Ultra features a HydroResist™ top coat that limits water and dirt accumulation on the film surface for increased stain resistance. It is backed by a manufacturer’s 10-year limited warranty4. Reaction, on the other hand, delivers our next-level of performance utilizing Eastman OEM-trusted Tetrashield™ technology. It offers an enhanced top coat with lower surface energy for increased hydrophobicity and an extremely slick surface—where water be

How do I remove SunTek® paint protection film after installation?

We recommend that only SunTek® dealers should remove SunTek PPF following these guidelines:

  • Film should be lifted at a 45-degree angle while pulling back towards you. This will cause the adhesive to release.
  • Do not fold the film over on itself and tear, as this can leave adhesive residue on the vehicle surface.
  • A steamer is recommended to aid in softening the film and adhesive for removal in colder temperatures (<55°F or <13°C).
  • As a dealer you should discourage customers from attempting to remove PPF film, themselves.
Can SunTek® PPF tolerate extreme hot or cold environments?

Our PPF is sold globally and installed on vehicles in frigid climates, including Colorado, Calgary, and Norway—and the hottest regions of Texas, Arizona, and the Middle East. With proper care, SunTek® PPF can help protect a vehicle in winter cold and excessive heat, backed by a manufacturer’s limited warranty4. For more information on product performance in your particular climate, contact a SunTek® sales representative.

Does PPF require hand washing after installation?

Yes, but it is best to allow the film to cure for a minimum of 3 days before washing. After this curing period ends, we recommend routine hand washing with soap and water whenever needed—using a soft microfiber wash mitt.

Take extra care if spraying around film edges with a high-pressure nozzle hose, high-powered pressure steam, or a power washer, as it may cause the film to lift off the vehicle.

But if you still choose to install paint protection film on a freshly painted vehicle, 30 days is the common waiting period for the new paint to outgas.

Infrared Energy Rejection (IRER) is a more complete measurement of heat experienced from solar infrared radiation (780-2500nm) including absorbed and re-radiated energy. Based on data obtained during product development and subject to change.
